Alternative To Glass Roof Here at Vector Foiltec we offer a great alternative to glass roof. Our Texlon® cladding systems have been developed to offer designers opportunities that are unparalleled in the development of the climatic envelope. Our Texlon® product consists of cushions that are pneumatic, restrained in aluminium extrusions and supported by a lightweight structure. The cushions are then inflated with air at a low pressure, which helps to provide insulation and resist wind loads, making this a great alternative to the glass roof solutions that are on the market today. The cushions are manufactured from between two and five layers of modified ETFE, which to give it its full name is Ethylene Tetra Fluoro Ethylene, a material originally developed for use within the space industry. The material is extremely unique in the sense that it does not degrade under Ultra Violet light or from atmospheric pollution. Texlon® is great as an alternative to a glass roof as it is very durable and very long lasting and can be used a part of the permanent building envelope and furthermore, as it has a very smooth surface with anti adhesive properties, Texlon® has the ability to self clean when it rains. Texlon® combines exceptional light transmission with very high insulation and each layer has the ability to incorporate different types of solar shading that enables the designer to optimise the aesthetic and environmental performance of the building envelope adding to its appropriate use as an alternative to a glass roof.
