Size: 700 m²
Date: 2004

Notes:

Located near the main railway station in downtown Frankfurt, Oval am Basler Platz is one of the latest commercial and residential developments for this historic city.

Designed by renowned Architects Albert Speer and Partners, the structure is already a focal point for the community.

The central atrium space is capped by a Texlon ETFE roof system that creates an incredible feeling of an indoor/outdoor space to the area below. The Architects choice of a special 'Chaospunkt' pattern to the Texlon skins is enough to reduce the glare from the surrounding glass facade to manageable levels, without losing too much of the overall transparency of the roof system.

The ultra lightweight nature of the Texlon system also enabled the use of a sophisticated pre-tensioned cable and strut system; a fraction of the weight of a conventional atrium roof support structure.
