Project:
North Terminal (NTI)

Location:
United Kingdom, Gatwick

Architect:

Size: 4.741 m²
Date: 2010

Notes:

Vector Foiltec installed Texlon® ETFE roof with Brisé Soleil and fabric rain screens to canopy structure of the North Terminal Interchange (NTI) train station as part of Gatwick’s North Terminal Landside Development Programme.

This tiered canopy offers protection to passengers arriving at Gatwick Airport’s North Terminal Interchange. The main tier adjacent to the terminal building has been clad with two layers of Texlon® ETFE (Ethylene TetraFluoroEthylene) cushions with a printed upper foil, and the lower tiers consist of two layer cushions of transparent foil.

The roof appears planar, however a slight pitch has been introduced through the use of variations in the secondary steelwork.

Passengers are sheltered from wind and rain entering the sides of the canopy by a tensile fabric rain screen. Vector Foiltec's scope of work extended to gutters, symphonic drainage, access walkways, handrails and ladders.
