Texlon®'s multi-layered construction offers the designer numerous opportunities to control the amount of solar shading and manipulate the visual transparency of the building envelope. This has enabled the development of low energy, naturally engineered environments.
The Transparent Envelope
Texlon® cushions have a high transparency of between 90-95% for each layer of foil, over most of the solar spectrum. Recent developments in material production have enabled the production of optically clear foils suitable for facades.
The Graphic Envelope
Texlon® cushions can be printed with graphic patterns of translucent or opaque fluoro polymer ink. A wide range of patterns, visual effects and solar shading can be achieved while retaining the visual transparency of the envelope.
We have also developed appliqué graphics which can be installed and replaced allowing the use of the envelope to brand, theme or advertise.
The Variable Envelope
Texlon® cushions can be produced with a wide range of embodied colours, prints and patterns. The colour, translucency, density and number of layers can be varied, and moved in relation to each other, to allow an infinite number of effects. The surface of the foils can be manipulated to capture projected light, colour and images, enabling the environment to react and change on demand.
The Engineered Envelope
Texlon® cushions can be engineered to selectively transmit or reflect different wavelengths of the solar spectrum allowing the overall performance of the envelope to be manipulated to suit any application. Both UV and IR filters are available, as well as a wide range of treatments which affect the surface emissivity or ability of the cushion to radiate energy.
