Size: 250 m²
Date: 2006

Notes:

The beautiful Clerkenwell Studios were originally built in the late 19th Century for small artisans such as engravers, printers and watchmakers. The two buildings have now been joined by a Texlon® ETFE roof, chosen for its extreme lightweight properties (1% of the weight of glass). The aim was to keep to the original integrity of the building by retaining as much of the original building and the Victorian layout as possible.

The Texlon® ETFE roof has allowed for minimal structural intrusion yet provides a new courtyard containing a café and bar where tenants can network and relax. It has also helped secure the BREEAM ‘Excellent’ Environmental rating. Texlon® ETFE is the only ETFE system in the world with an EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) which affords a simplification of sustainable energy credits in accordance with BREEAM.
