Massanutten is a popular mountain resort featuring downhill skiing in the winter, as well as mountain hiking in the summer, with panoramic views of the Shenandoah Valley. The Aquatic Centre is a stand-alone, indoor waterpark that provides alternative activities for resort guests year round.

The development has arcades and restaurants surrounding the central aquatic area, which is completely enclosed in a pyramid like structure, reflective of the distant mountain peaks. The network of timber beams are the only noticeable element of the roof due to the transparent nature of Texlon ETFE, allowing a rich space of brilliant light and lush vegetation below.
