Insulated Roofing
Here at Vector Foiltec we specialise in many different areas within the design and build industry using ETFE for various projects such as insulated roofing. Over twenty-five years ago we produced a product we call Texlon® which opened up new avenues for designers to utilise the product to its full extent. Used in insulated roofing Texlon® cushions have an outstanding level of insulation and other properties that enable the use of large areas of transparent cladding without compromising the environmental objectives. Texlon® cushions are fabricated from between two to five layers of ETFE foil and as each layer of foil encloses a layer of air the U value of the envelope is very low and can be optimised to suit each application.

For high latitudes, Texlon®’s superb insulation qualities and high transparency can be used in combination with Texlon® PV, to reduce winter heating costs and harvest solar energy. For the tropics, shading and insulation can reduce cooling loads while retaining good daylight levels. Texlon®, unlike glazing, is a good insulator. The inner layer of foil is generally engineered to be at a temperature of ambient adjacent, meaning that thermal comfort is significantly better, due to the reduction of cold or hot surface radiation, making it great for insulated roofing.

Texlon® cushions are restrained at their perimeters by our large range of extrusions designed to suit every application for insulated roofing. All our extrusions incorporate thermal breaks. The system can be further enhanced by specifying our patented Texlon® Thermo©, incorporating an additional thermal break within the cushion edge.
