Bad Schmiedeburg, built in the early 1990's, is a prime example of innovative swimming pool structures.
Triangular Texlon ETFE panels are used to create a lightweight but transparent cladding solution to a Glulam (Glued Laminated) Timber grid shell frame. The Texlon ETFE cladding is immune to the highly humid, chlorinated environment and provides maximum insulation and light transmission.
Coupled with the polyurethane sheathed, Glulam timber frame, the entire structure is much more resistant to corrosion than equivalent structures that use galvanised and painted steelwork.
The lightweight nature of the Texlon ETFE cladding and its ability to accommodate larger than normal deflections also allows the primary structure to span much further distances with less material.
