Project:
Paris Expo 2.2

Location:
France, Paris

Architect:

Nicolas Adam

Size: 95 m²
Date: 2006

Notes:

Close to the heart of the French capital, the popular Porte de Versailles entrance to the Paris Expo recently underwent an extensive redevelopment. One of the key features was a large canopy to protect pedestrians, and other visitors to the centre, from the elements as well as to house rest areas and a small café.

The canopy was specifically designed using the White Texlon ETFE foil system to create a light, bright interior that could also be illuminated at night and, if required, have images projected onto it. The resulting structure is a modern, lightweight canopy that is versatile, cost effective and gives a perfect first impression to the entire development.

Construction of the canopy needed to take place between events at the Expo Centre in order to minimise disruption. This meant that rigorous project and construction management was required to meet critical deadlines and to ensure the entire erection process went smoothly. Vector Foiltec personnel worked extensively with the Paris Expo team to ensure that the entire project was delivered on time and on budget.
