This highly
prestigious project for World renowned fashion designer, Jean Paul
Gaultier, represents the true functionality of the Texlon system over
other roofing materials.
The Texlon system allows an
unrivalled quality of light to be transmitted into the hall below,
without any filtering of the colour spectrum common with glazed systems.
This allows the true beauty of the fabrics to be showcased. In
addition, the 5m x 5m Texlon cushions are able to completely span each
of the 3 separate skylight spaces, thereby eliminating the need for
intermediate supports and creating true 'light wells' into the salon
below.
The original building dates from the early part of the
20th century and is typical of the ornate architectural style of the
period. The Architects' visions while refurbishing the space were to
respect the original style but enhance it using 21st century
construction techniques. The Texlon system fitted perfectly with this
ethos.
