The new
office building for South Cambridge District Council uses Texlon ETFE as
part of the climatic envelope. Constructed by Alfred McAlpine Special
Projects, a spokesman stated that; “This is a next generation building
which encompasses the industry's requirements of sustainability, cheap
running costs and state of the art design and materials, to meet the
clients' requirements.”
The system comprises a roof area of
approximately 800 sqm of white Texlon ETFE. The white finish allows a
high degree of even light transmission while reducing glare to a
minimum. The Texlon system also offers excellent thermal performance,
helping the building achieve a BREEAM rating of 'Excellent'.
