Description

Luxury Resorts commissioned the Office of Thierry Despont and Garcia Stromberg to develop concepts for the refurbishment of the Boca Raton Resort and Club. The Palm Court lobby was transformed from a conventional thoroughfare to a light filled, multi use space. The old roof was replaced by a transparent Texlon® ETFE canopy floating above a grid of steel columns, which branch up in the form of palm trees. The result is an area that provides guests with an outdoor atmosphere, with the comforts of an indoor climate.

Vector Foiltec engineered and fabricated both the complex steel structure and the Texlon® ETFE transparent roof. Working closely with the design team Vector Foiltec developed a system that would meet the organic design concept and the rigorous hurricane code requirements.
