EUPHORE is one of the best photochemical smog reactors in the world, constructed for the simulation of the chemical processes in the atmosphere.

It is owned and operated by CEAM, La Fundación Centro de Estudios Ambientales del Mediterráneo (The Mediterranean Environmental Training Centre).

Each reactor consists of a hemispheric structure of transparent, single skin ETFE, which allows the simulation of the atmospheric conditions of aerial masses, the study of the photochemical processes and the effect of sunlight. The internal area is slightly pressurised in order to maintain the structural form.

A moving steel shell encloses the laboratory in order to protect the high tech envelope from damage in high winds and to control the amount of light that the chamber is exposed to.
