Description

Neues Gymnasium Bochum, Germany, is a school that has all of the components to achieve the Green Building certification, demonstrating the sustainability of this project.
Designed by Hascher Jehle Architektur the school is built in the shape of a figure eight. One of the two atria is covered with a 1,010 m2 Texlon® ETFE roof.

The use of Texlon® ETFE creates a naturally illuminated place, which perfectly fits into the architecture of the whole building. ETFE spans the entire courtyard, so students and teachers are protected from the environment, but simultaneously feel the natural light as if sitting outside. The acoustic comfort during breaks and events is another advantage which the transparent cladding system provides.

Texlon® ETFE sets new standards for education architecture.
