Location:
United Kingdom, Paignton

Architect:

Size: 3.000 m²
Date: 2002

Notes:

Inspired by the Eden Project, the aviary is home to wading birds, terns, sea ducks, auks, penguins, fur seals and black rats.

The structure is made up using polyethylene netting, supported from a tensioned cable net system. This material effectively encloses the birds inside and also keeps other birdlife out. The polyethylene material, with its superior toughness, is capable of withstanding even the sharpest seagull beak.
