The Paya Lebar Quarter is a stunning place of gathering in Singapore where you can enjoy shopping, everyday conveniences and fine dining. It is not only an entertainment plaza with a diverse range of events and activities. It is surrounded by culturally diverse neighborhoods, and is a distinctive cultural area, and also a budding business hub. The Paya Lebar Plaza features a striking Texlon^® ETFE canopy that totals to 2,100 m² on a sleek steel structure. It was a collaboration between Vector Foiltec and architects DP Architects and Arup Singapore. Among others, Paya Lebar Quarter hosts a mall with a 10-screen cinema, dynamic office spaces, a park, bars and restaurants.

Unique Pattern for the Canopy by Texlon^® ETFE System

The Texlon^® ETFE cushions of the Paya Lebar Quarter have a unique feature that allows the canopy to stand out not just in aesthetics but in added cultural values. The ETFE cushions used for the canopy consist of two layers, to create a unique triangular pattern as result of woven translucent and printed color ETFE foils.

This design pattern is called the Songket pattern. It is reflective of the local Malay culture and woven throughout the Paya Lebar Quarter architecture. Songket is a traditional fabric, worn for special occasions such as weddings or religious festivals. Thus its incorporation into the canopy design serves as an added value to such a culturally prominent and diverse location.

PLQ focused on sustainability. The building won the 2021 ULI Asia Pacific Awards for Excellence. Further, it has BCA Green Mark Platinum and is WELL-registered and pre-certified to Gold standard.
