Outstanding Texlon® ETFE Canopy in Northwest China
The first ETFE (ethylene tetrafluoroethylene) canopy in Northwest China has been completed. Outstanding design was one of the main goals while planning Xi’an’s GPark Shopping Mall. The elongated honeycomb shaped cushions help this project stand apart from traditional cladding projects.
Unique Open Air Experience
The canopy includes 15,000 m2 of Vector Foiltec’s translucent Texlon® ETFE system. The covered area enhances the well-being of all visitors who spend time at GPark for shopping, entertainment and various leisure activities. The canopy creates a unique open air experience while walking and relaxing in GPark and protects visitors from the elements. The transparent roofing system makes it possible to maintain a comfortable sound level that invites shoppers to stay.
Visually Striking Canopy
The pictures show a visually striking and unique canopy. ETFE has a great advantage over traditional cladding materials like glass: it needs less structural support because of its lightweight properties, ETFE bring only about 1% the weight of glass.
The light steel structure supports 435 unique foil cushions, the longest spanning 29 meters. As a result, this reduces construction costs.
