Texlon® ETFE Facade
Arena Pernambuco (Estádio Governador Carlos Wilson Campos) designed by Fernandes Arquitetos Associados in Recife is home to the legendary Clube Náutico Capibaribe football team. Costing R$ 532 million, three World Cup Confederation Cup matches were held at the new stadium in 2013 and five Fifa World Cup matches in 2014. It has been awarded with the International Property Awards 2012.
Short Installation of the Facade System
The visual design of the stadium intended to create a contrast between concrete features at ground level in the external corners and soft, light Texlon® ETFE facade sheltering the venue. The 24,437 m² ETFE facade system was installed within four months of the order being placed. Our highly specialized facade technology has been used for the stadium for the first time in Brazil.
Sustainability – LEED Silver Certified
Boasting acoustic transparency and minimal support structure needs, Texlon® ETFE is an ideal enveloping choice for large scale buildings such as stadiums. The ETFE material is unique in that it is fully recyclable, self-cleansing, highly insulating and does not degrade under ultra-violet light. Equipped with systems of effective waste management, rain water collecting and solar power utilisation, the use of Texlon® ETFE compliments goals of sustainability and eco-efficiency for the prestigious arena. The stadium is certified according to LEED silver requirements. The sustainable facade system helped to achieve this certification.
