Floriade Exhibition – “Innovatoren” Campus Building

Exhibition and Garden Festival supported by Texlon^® ETFE

Floriade 2012 is an international exhibition and garden festival, held every 10 years in the Netherlands. Prior to the Floriade in the Netherlands, flower and garden shows were called Flora Exhibitions. The entrance to the Floriade Exhibition 2012 in Venlo is covered by a series of Texlon^® ETFE canopies. Vector Foiltec worked closely with architects to create an undulating roof with a feeling of being neither inside nor outside, much like a greenhouse.

Today, the Brightlands Campus Greenport Venlo use the former Floriade building as a campus building which is called “Innovatoren”.

Lightweight and Airy Nature

The lightweight and airy nature of Texlon^® ETFE was inspired by and used to evoke a resemblance to trees and the way in which they move. At just 1% of the weight of glass, Texlon^® ETFE was the ideal choice for this design. As one of the most ecological and sustainable materials available, Texlon^® ETFE is fully recyclable and possesses self-cleaning properties. We reached the sustainability targets set by the client with great ease as Texlon^® ETFE is the most suitable material for this project in terms of monetary efficiency and environmental awareness.
