Foor floors of high specification office and laboratories make uo the Institute of Nanotechnology building in Karlsruhe. A lightweight Texlon® ETFE cladding system was used to cover the main atrium aspace. The geometry of the roof was designed to incorporate a pitch to offset extensive water ponding.


The atrium makes use of a Texlon® ETFE cladding system which has been printed to minimize solar gain while maximizing natural daylight. The use of Texlon® ETFE offers significant benefits compared to other transparent cladding systems on both new buildings and refurbishment projects. The low levels of embodied energy, combined with its adaptability in terms of natural ventilation, thermal insulation and light transmittance, makes Texlon® ETFE an incredibly sustainable construction product.
