Three Canopies for One Shopping Mall

What a great project: three canopies for one shopping mall, beneficial for both visitors and operators. Our scope of work included design, supply, and installation of these Texlon^® ETFE canopies at the new QBig Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) City Shopping Mall in Tangerang, Indonesia.

Green and Sustainable Environment

The retail complex is filled with various shops, but it is famous for providing a generous open public space. It is equipped with leafy trees, a koi pond and water cascade, green tiered seating, and a huge open area for roller-skating, running, etc. Subsequently, the green concept means the use of eco-friendly building materials, which is how our Texlon^® ETFE system fits in. Among other things, ETFE can be fully recycled, and our system helped to reach credits for different green building rating systems.

Canopies: Creating a Bright and Comfortable Outdoor Area

Further, the whole roof, including our Texlon^® ETFE system, needed to take on tropical rain flows. In addition, an achieved goal of our system was to create a bright and comfortable outdoor area underneath the closed canopy surrounding the public space. And it needed to do this while providing enough shade, so the upper layer was printed with a special silver ink.

To sum up, the three different canopies (smallest 137 m², middle 253 m², and largest 360 m²) provide shelter and light for all visitors under the canopy above the promenade and around the park.
