New Arrival Building with Texlon® ETFE Facade

MCH Messecenter Herning is an exhibition center that has been given new space. The expansion is in the form of an arrival building, which includes a Texlon® ETFE facade that is over 2000 m2. It is a distinctive eye-catching entrance into the cultural site.

Cubo Architects designed the arrival hall, incorporating our Texlon® ETFE facade. The hall creates a connection between the outside and inside, making the arrival and entrance area in front of the Jyske Bank Boxen Arena much more welcoming.

Our Texlon® ETFE facade consists of 274 triangular, 4-layered ETFE foil cushions, supported by a sophisticated, triangular steel structure. The 2,000 m² Texlon® ETFE system was a fast and efficient solution for the client, taking only two and a half months to construct the facade.

Illumination of Texlon® ETFE Facade

Our Texlon® ETFE foil system allows for a variety of shapes and sizes. And, if we add illumination we raise the bar to a higher level. Martin Lighting did the LED illumination for MCH Herning with their Exterior Linear QUAD lighting. MCH Herning can choose from a variety of colors and match the facade according to each event. The LED lights are incorporated in the steel trusses. Watch the video below to get a feeling of what is possible with lighting and Texlon® ETFE.

Texlon® ETFE’s Acoustic Benefit

Another advantage of Texlon® ETFE is that great acoustics can be achieved without reflection in the exhibition hall. This is most important for places where many people gather. Architectural ETFE solutions provide a completely different, pleasant atmosphere and acoustics than other materials like glass.

About the Exhibition Center MCH Herning

Denmark’s first indoor multi-arena opened in October 2010 and is part of the largest fair and exhibition center in Denmark. Lady Gaga performed at the grand opening and was followed by other well-known artists like Linkin Park, Elton John and Kylie Minogue. Throughout the year, over 900,000 visitors participated in various events there.

The exhibition hall has a capacity of 15,000 visitors for concerts,13,488 for Boxing and 12,500 for other sports events, like the 2010 European Women’s Handball Championship. The Texlon® ETFE facade and the new hall were finished on time for the World Ice Hockey Championships in 2018.

Second Phase

It is a testament to our Company and our system that we are part of the comprehensive renovation of Entrance West by Cubo Architects. We are again in close cooperation with c.c. contractor, who is again our primary contact for the second phase.

The renovation follows the approach of the first façade design. The Texlon® ETFE system’s design has the same shape as the façade for the arrival building. That means, the idiom is continued and creates recognizability. We created the triangular panels for three facades with 630 m² and 187 cushions. Again, the system consists of four layers of ETFE foil, which provide outstanding insulation considering Denmark’s climate.
