North Terminal Interchange (NTI)
We installed the Texlon® ETFE technology to the roof canopy structure of the North Terminal Interchange (NTI) train station as part of Gatwick’s North Terminal Landside Development Programme. Vector Foiltec also installed Brisé Soleil (Shading inside the building with an unobstructed view) and fabric rain screens. Capita Symonds designed the Morgan Sindall constructed scheme.
Printed and Clear ETFE Foils
The main tier adjacent to the terminal building has been clad in two layer Texlon® ETFE inflated panels with a printed upper foil, and the lower tiers in two layer panels with clear foil. The roof appears planar, however a slight pitch has been introduced through the use of variations in the secondary steelwork.
Protection to Passengers
The tiered ETFE roof canopy offers protection to passengers arriving at Gatwick Airport’s North Terminal Interchange. Further, Passengers are sheltered from wind and rain entering the sides of the roof by a tensile fabric rain screen. Our scope of work extended to gutters, symphonic drainage, access walkways, handrails and ladders.
