Protecting Visitors in Shopping Centers
Gentle curves let visitors feel as though they are walking outdoors while shopping. The translucent Texlon® ETFE canopy creates a safe and comfortable environment at the former Harbour Town Shopping Centre in Melbourne, Australia. It was renamed to “The District Docklands“. The canopy protects visitors from the elements and increases their satisfaction during their visit.
Split into two phases, the first 5,500 m² Texlon® ETFE system has been extended to cover the mall’s entrances to Wharf St and Star Cres. The extension of over 900 m² creates a dynamic new entry from the south for the shoppers.
Translucent ETFE Roof
The ETFE roof is translucent and you can look through. At night, the illuminated Melbourne Star Observation Wheel can be seen through the Texlon® ETFE foil cushion system. The system is lightweight and the supporting steel structure has been reduced compared to a glass installation.
