Tropical House with Texlon® ETFE Dome

A Texlon® ETFE foil roof forms the structural and design heart of the Green Pyramid, the habitat for Komodo dragons, at Sóstó Zoo.

ETFE roof acts like Plants

The declared goal was to achieve a high atmospheric effect in the interior. To achieve this, the architects designed a decorative roof. In the process, the Texlon® ETFE foil cushions provide natural daylight in the interior and, like plants, protect the Komodo dragons from the weather. The bactericidal effect of UV rays makes it possible to avoid using pesticides in the building. At the same time, the high light transmittance enables the use of solar gains and the rapid growth of lush vegetation – it creates the perfect conditions for the Komodo dragons.

Attraction is independent from the Weather

A side effect of the Texlon® ETFE foil roof is the attraction’s independence from the weather, which means that the Asia Adventure World zoo can remain open all year round.
