Resinda Park Mall in Indonesia with Texlon® ETFE Canopies
Resinda Park Mall is a shopping complex with a large variety of leisure and entertainment facilities located in Karawang, Indonesia. It hosts a movie theater, restaurants, spas, gaming arcades, beauty parlors and entertainment services. Inaugurated in 2017, Resinda Park Mall is the first high-end mall in Karawang city, featuring global brands. Vector Foiltec, took part of the mall development, creating and installing Texlon ETFE® canopies specially focused on achieving climate control strategies through innovative design concepts.
Climate Control Strategies that Work
We often struggle in the wind and rain to keep our umbrellas from turning inside out. But, the designers of the ETFE canopies at Resinda Park Mall had another idea: inverted umbrellas that would protect visitors and employees from the environmental elements. We helped create six huge Texlon® ETFE canopies, each 20×20 meters, which cover the entrance area of the shopping mall. A perfect example of a climate controlled strategy that works.
Texlon® ETFE and Unique Building Forms
The 30-meter tall Resinda Mall canopies are unique in shape and cover a total area of 2,400 m². The canopies support themselves on a steel structure and employ two-layer ETFE cushions. Consequently, when it rains, the canopies collect the rainwater at the center which then passes through the columns, acting as gutters. Moreover, on nice sunny days, the ETFE foil provides thermal protection from the sun due to being partially printed with special ink. Furthermore, at night, colored lights create a unique identity and aesthetic for the mall.
