Office Renovation with Texlon® ETFE Roof in Stockholm

The 2016 redevelopment and renovation of the office property Sliparen 2 in Solna, Stockholm, introduced the city to the first Texlon® ETFE roof. Fabege, one of Sweden’s leading property companies, decided to develop Solna Business Park, which was built in 1964. The developments turned the park into the “place to be” for a variety of companies.

Pretty Green for a Transparent Solution – BREEAM Certified

Vector Foiltec’s Texlon® ETFE system perfectly fits into Solna’s new green city district, a great renovation project. We are the only company that has a full EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) certification for our Texlon® ETFE solutions. In other words, that is pretty green for a transparent solution. The longevity and durability of the technology makes it to one of the smartest solutions at hand. Texlon® ETFE also lends a hand in lowering a projects total carbon footprint. When transporting the material to site, weight and costs of the supporting structure can be optimized significantly.

We worked closely with the architects URBAN DESIGN to create this over 500 m² Texlon® ETFE atrium. A highlight is that the property is environmentally certified according to BREEAM In-Use Very Good.

Lightweight Texlon® ETFE System

When renovation and adding on to existing buildings, Texlon® ETFE’s lightweight supporting steel structure has a minimal impact on the existing structure. Further, the system created a light atrium with acoustic comfort, where people like to spend their time. The former open courtyard is now an enclosed terrace area for lectures and events. A footbridge connects the office spaces on the upper floor, creating place that can be used year-round.

Reaching Individual U- and g-values in Renovation Projects in Sweden

Vector Foiltec engineered the steel structure and the Texlon® ETFE system for the atria roof renovation. The U-value and g-value were important considerations when designing the roof. So, a 4-layer, printed Texlon® system was designed. The dot matrix, silver print, is only located on the outer layer of the system, so the overall transparency of the roof is not affected from views below.
