Changi City Point Canopies
Changi Business Park is located in Changi South, in the eastern part of Singapore. Completed in 2012, a large area of Changi Business Park is a mixed use development project. It includes a retail shopping mall, office buildings and a hotel. The boldly designed Changi City Point canopies consist of 32 two-layer cushions. The cushions have different setup, as the upper ETFE layer varies with either a graphic grid, white colored foil, or with a matte finish. The versatile design possibilities of Texlon® ETFE cushion technology helped Vector Foiltec give a conventional canopy a modern face.
Designed by Aedas Singapore and constructed by Japanese general construction contractor Nakano Corporation, the project is a joint venture between Ascendas Land and Frasers Centerpoint.
Illumination and Lightweight ETFE
Incorporating LED lights into the Texlon® ETFE canopies gives Changi City Point its contemporary design. As a result, Changi Business Park also presents itself characteristically at night.
The lightweight Texlon® ETFE system offers tremendous advantages over traditional roofing systems. Huge benefits are energy savings, sound dispersion, lower structural costs and better light transmission. The Texlon® ETFE panels are permanently inflated with compressed air, ensuring resistance to wind lift and insulation. The Texlon® ETFE panels are restrained within profiled aluminium extrusions which are curved to the contour of the steel structure.
