Texlon® ETFE and Education
Located in the heart of Adelaide, the Botanic High School is a new addition to Australia’s educational facilities. The new government funded high school was designed by Cox Architects Adelaide and Arup Engineers. This impressive structure holds the capacity to host up to 1,250 students and has received numerous accolades for its impressive structure and architectural feats.
Unique in its design, the Botanic High School is designed vertically, in contrast to most common horizontally orientated schools. These horizontally orientated schools can result in students having to walk long distances from one classroom to another, and large usage of open spaces and glass. However, Botanic High School’s vertical design allows it to reach upwards to the sky topped by a strong and beautiful ETFE structure.
Botanic High School ETFE Atrium
Our Texlon® ETFE system covers the centre of the high school, creating a beautiful atrium that measures to 403 m². ETFE’s translucent and UV transparent characteristics, allows for an influx of natural lighting into the school through the atrium.
We designed, supplied and installed the ETFE roof at this high school with a 3-layer foil system and variable shading options for natural lighting. Our clients had set their minds and value on a lightweight system with visual impact and an easy option to shade. This, which we can make available at comparatively low costs, we delivered fully and in short time.
Adelaide’s state-of-the art Botanic High School is the beginning of something new, they have set bigger and better standards for educational facility concepts and we as company are proud to be part of the project.
