Not a UFO – A Texlon® ETFE Canopy
The Cloud of Science, a 125 m2 Texlon® ETFE canopy, was the centerpiece of the tenth anniversary of Braunschweig’s title „City of science 2007”. The canopy was built as a meeting point in the city, and host to various events throughout the 10 days of science focused programs.
The two-layer Texlon® ETFE system has constant air flowing throughout, maintaining pressure, to keep it inflated giving it a cushion like appearance. At night, the transparent foil cushion canopy is illuminated making it even more unique establishing itself as a popular meeting point in the middle of the city at the castle square.
Texlon® ETFE has been installed on iconic projects worldwide, like the world renowned famous Eden Project in Cornwall or Burgers’ Mangrove at Burgers’ Zoo in Arnhem, Netherlands. Our repeat clients are a testimonial to the extraordinary benefits of the building material.
Vector Foiltec is responsible for the Texlon® ETFE system, the steel structure and installation.
