Multi-Purpose Stadia Refurbishments
Texlon® ETFE and London Olympic Stadium
The London Olympic Stadium is a multi-purpose outdoor stadium at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park located in the Stratford district of London. Following the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the stadium was due for a refurbishement. Vector Foiltec took part of the renovation, adding a Texlon® ETFE Halo and West Stand canopies to the stadium.
Outstanding Multi-Purpose Stadium Transformation
First, as part of the transformation process, the original fabric membrane roof was dismantled and replaced. Vector Foiltec installed a new roof, spanning three times further and covering an area twice as large as the original. Therefore, steel columns were designed to pass through the center of the Texlon® ETFE cushion while inner pressure is maintained. Consequently, the transformation earned а 2015 WAF Award for Leisure-Led Development.
