Two Texlon® ETFE Roofs for the Taipei Flora Exposition 2010

In 2010 the Taipei International Flora Exposition opened its doors to national and international horticulture and flora fans. The event, organized by the International Association of Horticultural Producers, attracted over 8.9 million visitors. Vector Foiltec’s Texlon® ETFE system covers two roofs of the exposition pavilions.

The whole exposition area includes multiple pavilions (Life, Dream, and Future) as well as outdoor areas, a conference center, a gift shop, an aquatic area, and a stage. The two Texlon® ETFE roofs span over a total of 1,200 m². Underneath you can find a tropical and subtropical plant as well as an orchid exposition.

ETFE is the Ideal Building Material for Botanical Gardens Worldwide

Due to the transparency and high light transmission of the material, it is a great choice for botanical projects, like the Taipei Flora Expo. In fact, ETFE lets through all wavelengths of visible light, including UV light. This characteristic also allows it to kill fungi. As a result, fewer pesticides have to be used to keep the plants healthy.

In subtropical and tropical climates like Taiwan, overheating of buildings is a valid concern. We offer a unique printing solution to minimize the effects of solar radiation. The upper layer of the foil cushions gets printed with a silver-colored pigment, which reflects the radiation. We offer a range of printing patterns in different densities and tones to reach the desired effect of each project. Our system covers many different botanical gardens in various climates.
